Decorative ceramic pumpkins perfect for autumn
Explore the Exhibit Back About This Exhibit About the Artist
These decorative ceramic pumpkins are handmade pieces created as an exploration of form, color, and
seasonal imagery. Each pumpkin is shaped and finished individually, with the variations in size, form,
and surface treatment giving each piece its own character. The traditional pumpkin form provides a
familiar starting point while allowing the ceramic material and glazing process to transform it into
something intended to last far beyond the autumn season.
The pieces were created using fired clay and glaze, allowing the surfaces to develop their own
variations of color and texture during firing. The glazing process emphasizes the rounded forms and
recessed details of the pumpkins while giving the finished pieces the appearance of autumn decorations
rendered in ceramic.
These pumpkins are intended as decorative works that bring the visual character of autumn into the home
without being limited to the short lifespan of a natural pumpkin. They are small examples of my ongoing
exploration of ceramics as both functional and decorative art, using familiar objects as a starting
point for experimenting with form, surface, and material.
