A series of masks representing recurring characters in Idrani theater
Explore the Exhibit Back About This Exhibit About the Artist
The Creature Masks are a set of papier mâché masks representing an array of stock characters in a stylized form of Idrani theater. The protagonist, antagonist, and other characters may be unique, but these character types serve specific purposes within the story arc and appear again and again in different plays. The creatures may be actual animals, anthropomorphized animals, humans in stylized costumes, or simply human characters who bear the names of these creatures.
